Urine Odor and Pet Stain Removal Basic Guide

Pets are one of the biggest reasons Colorado Carpet Masters is in business. They endure themselves to our hearts and become a very special part of our families. We spend thousands on vet bills, obedience schools, and our very favorite, carpet cleaning. We see some of our clients several times a year for urine odor and stain removal. Some people will wait years before the pet odors become so bad that they must finally do something about it. Why clean the carpets when you know the pet will start all over the very next day? If we wait too long before cleaning up the pet urine and pet odor, it will saturate our carpet pad and subfloor which will result in a very costly removal of all the carpet pad, cleaning and sealing of the sub floor. Periodic truck mount steam cleaning of the carpets is a must. What can you do between carpet cleanings?

Do not use soap on urine stains. It tends to set the urine stain and does not help with the pet odors. Blot fresh urine stains with paper towels to remove as much as possible. Use an enzyme bacteria product which will eat and breakdown the urine stain. Keep the enzyme wet for at least a 24 hour period and do not scrub the stain.
